Shovel’s Knight’s upcoming expansion, Specter of Torment, is coming sometime in Spring 2017 to all available platforms.
As with the previous, Plague of Shadows expansion, which featured new gameplay and a new playable character in the form of Plague Knight, Specter of Torment will offer a new style of gameplay for Shovel Knight players.
Armed with a scythe, the Specter Knight, a previous boss in the Shovel Knight campaign, can unleash a swift strike against enemies as well as launch a dive bomb attack from mid-air. While Specter Knight cannot jump very high, he makes up for this handicap with the ability to climb up walls.
Just like with the Plague of Shadows campaign, both Specter of Torment, and the next upcoming DLC expansion featuring King Knight, will be released for free.
Also coming alongside each of the two forthcoming campaigns are new modes: Body Swap and Battle Mode. Body Swap lets players change the gender of their character, offering more accessibility to all gamers, while Battle Mode – as the name suggests – is a multiplayer PvP competitive mode.
