Sure, a Christian artist appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon one time might seem like a fluke, especially when said artist doesn’t even perform a full song on that show. What can be said when the artist is invited back a second time, performing live as the featured artist?
Back in September, we talked about how Lecrae was helping shut the system down when he first appeared on The Tonight Show and held the number one spot on the Billboard charts. It was a momentous occasion because it was unheard of for not only a Christian artist, but a Christian rapper to be number one on the Billboards. To be the guest spot on The Tonight Show was just the cherry on top.
So, one would think that maybe the momentum would have cooled down, but since then, Lecrae has debut his “Say I Won’t” video in front of the audience at the Barclay’s Center during a Brooklyn Nets game, he’s been nominated for another Grammy, and he and his fellow Reach Record label artists have finished the first leg of their Anomaly tour and should be starting up the next part of the tour in the near future.
Personally, I appreciate that the flame is still burning and that people are still wanting to see more of Lecrae. Rather he’s doing it boldly or not, one cannot ignore the fact that he’s exposing more and more people to God. I know a lot of people have problems because he isn’t as aggressive with the message as he was in his past, but Jesus gave us the great commission to make disciples of all the nations. We can argue about his methods until the cows come home, but we can’t deny that Lecrae has made a bigger impact than we could have imagined in the kingdom.
