We all read from the same set of sixty-six books and yet… We still are divided on some things. Why is that? Why do Christians interpret topics of the Bible differently? There are countless issues that divide us as Christians. Chances are you feel passionately about these topics, but we have one true question to answer: Who is to blame? There must be someone… You can thank Eve for that. Thanks, Eve! If we were still in Eden then we could talk to God like with a normal conversation.
Despite the Bible being quite clear on the subject, this issue is still a hotly debated one. Is it sinful to live a homosexual life? Why can’t we change our morals like the world does and just accept that some people are gay and have sexual relations with the same sex? Should we acknowledge the Bible telling us that homosexuality is not okay? Should we argue that Jesus never mentioned the subject, except he did say marriage is between a man and woman?
2. When/If the Rapture Will Happen
Whether you think the rapture is pre, mid, or post tribulation, chances are you strongly support your position. The Bible does say that only God knows when it will happen. Let’s be real, this is not a foundational issue of Christianity and either way we are going to heaven. Unless of course you believe the rapture has already happened or will never happen. Then you are the oddball. Weirdo! Actually… Can I stay in your tribulation shelter?
3. Pre-destination vs Free Will
God has already decided whether each of us is going to Heaven or Hell! God knows everything, but we have the free will to choose our own path! Whichever way you swing, this debate will never end. Ever. God pre-destined it. No, wait. We freely choose to endlessly debate this. No, wait.
4. Old Earth vs Young Earth
The earth is billions of years old! God created everything in six days! Once again, this is how you interpret Genesis 1-11. Is it literal or was it God making it up to confuse us? While I personally view Genesis to be the foundation of the Bible and is very much important, people will argue over this. Man’s fallible view or God’s unchanging word?
5. Evolution vs Creation
We evolved over millions of years! God created us as humans from the start! This kind of goes hand in hand with number four. Did we evolve or were we created? Did God use evolution? Is evolution just an unprovable theory? One thing is for sure. You won’t hear the end of this debate until you die.
