Review Copy Policies

Tabletop Review Copy Policy

We do our best to be communicative with board game publishers that we contact for review copies. However, we have had situations where, for example, review copies have arrived unrequested and unwanted, leading to a difficult situation for both reviewer and publisher. We also understand there is financial risk when a publisher trusts us with a review copy. The policy below is intended to provide necessary clarity for publishers, readers, and our reviewers.

  1. If we solicit a game from a publisher, we will definitely review it, ideally within two month’s time. We make no guarantees as to whether the review will be positive or negative.
  2. If a publisher asks to send a game to us to review and we specifically agree, we will definitely review it with the same stipulations as above.
  3. If something is sent without correspondence or approval, we are under no obligation to review the item. Please contact us first.
  4. We do our best to only solicit (or accept!) games that we feel we would enjoy and will be a good fit for our audience. We’re never excited to write a negative review, and certainly don’t go out of our way to do so. However, we have an obligation to accurately cover every game that we agree to review.
