Watch the Dracula: Untold Trailer

Universal Pictures has dropped the first trailer for Dracula: Untold, an origin story for the famous vampire. The movie stars Luke Evans, who recently appeared as Bard in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

The hope is that this movie can be one that helps redeem vampires from their recent sparkly adventures. It also appears that this film will depict a well-intentioned Dracula, who accepts the curse of vampirism in order to gain the power to protect his family and fight against a corrupt regime. While not the first film to present Dracula as the “good guy”, it will be interesting to see if this movie will bring an ambiguous take on the morality and self-control of our protagonist, a-la Mitchell from Being Human (or Aidan if you’re watching the American version). The film will be out in theaters October of 2014.

Looks like it should be pretty good if they put as much effort into the storyline as they have into the CG. Nice to finally see a manly vampire again though!
