The (CHRIST)MAS™ 180 Project

Christmas is almost upon us. It is a beautiful time of year to spend time with loved ones and share gifts with one another. There are all kinds of traditions American culture has tied to this holiday season. We all want our kids to experience the same joy we experience at this time of year, so, over time, all kinds of behaviors have accumulated. We attend parties, wear ugly sweatshirts, listen to the joyful music, abandon our better judgment to be a part of the holiday shopping rush at retailers, and participate in all kinds of activities to get us in that holiday spirit.

With all of these happenings, it is easy to let our primary focus (Christ) fall to the wayside in a time that is ironically meant to be dedicated to Him. When Christmas is over, and we are sitting at the table with a cup of coffee, will we look back on the season and wish we had made more of it? At the start of the season, we had good intentions, but did we make the most of our opportunities? Often times, we can look back at certain events and conversations and wish we had taken those opportunities to share what Christmas really means to us. This is one of our biggest opportunities to share the love of Christ with the world, and we need to make the most of it.

Christmas Clothes2It isn’t inherently bad to participate in all of the festivities of the season, but, as Christians, we need to remember to keep our eyes focused on Him first. I, for one, don’t plan to stop singing carols and enjoying the festivities surrounding the holidays, but the joy of Christmas can only be magnified when we glorify the One Whose birth we are supposed to be celebrating.

Not everyone has trouble with this, but, fortunately for myself and others that do (or anyone else that just wants a really cool shirt for this Christmas season), 1Eighty Apparel has partnered with Pipeline Social Media Solutions to start a project to help us with this issue. The (CHRIST)MAS™ 180 Project uses the cleverly designed merchandising line to help the less fortunate and bring the focus of Christmas back to Christ.

How do they plan to do that though? Why should this be important to you?

We aren’t discussing the origins of the holiday with this article, but what Christians celebrate Christmas as. With that said, here are just a few things that wearing (CHRIST)MAS™ 180 Project clothing or drinking your coffee from a (CHRIST)MAS™ 180 Project tumbler or mug will help you do this Christmas:

Share Your Holiday Spirit

Each year, clothing companies make millions of dollars selling clothes that we buy to show our love for the holidays. This tells us that we love to show our holiday spirit in what we wear during the season. You don’t want to be the only one at that annual Christmas event in something very un-Christmas, do you? Get yourself a (Christ)mas shirt in holiday red and show those coworkers you aren’t a Scrooge. It doesn’t matter if you don’t go to one of those parties though; with one of these, you can show everyone at the mall during your holiday shopping sprees that you are aren’t one of those amateurs in the black or blue hoodie.

Show Christ is the Focus of Your Christmas

It isn’t always apparent in everyday conversation what the holidays mean to you. You won’t even have the opportunity to talk with a lot of people you see. When you pass someone wearing one of these shirts, you won’t leave any question. Not everyone will see that Christian fish on the trunk of your car, but you’ll pass many people as you walk through your favorite retail stores this year. A glance at your shirt will show them in Whom your faith lies and what your focus is this Christmas.

Share the Love of Christ with Others

Christmas Clothes1

We are commanded to share the Gospel with others anyway (Matthew 28:19), but approaching others with a heavy topic like their eternity isn’t always easy. Anything that gives a jumpstart to that conversation is usually welcomed. With the (CHRIST)MAS™ 180 Project, we can use the momentum of the Christmas season to help us get those Gospel conversations started. We want to see others accepting their salvation, and a (Christ)mas shirt might be exactly what you need to get the discussion that leads them there started.

Give to Those in Need

Many people will spend this holiday season hungry and alone. The (CHRIST)MAS™ 180 Project gives a portion of their proceeds to many nonprofits, including Food for the HungryHouses for the Homeless, and World HelpHebrews 13:16 is one of many verses that tell us that we are to give to those in need. Many of us already do give to charities and buy lunches for people that we see from time-to-time, but this gives you the opportunity to share so much more. When you buy a (Christ)mas product, a portion of the money you spend goes towards helping people less fortunate… and you get cool stuff, too!

The (CHRIST)MAS™ 180 Project is a great way for Christians to turn the focus of the season back to Christ and help the hurting in the process. When you buy one of the products with this logo on it, you are supporting a Christian company with Christian goals. When you buy and wear these clothes, you are not only showing others your faith, but you are also helping someone in need.

During a season that has changed meaning overtime, this project means to set the holidays back on course: to celebrate the coming of the Savior of the world, and to bring joy to all people–the comfortable and the hurting alike. When you get your (Christ)mas shirt, mug, or tumbler, you can join other buyers and show your support by sharing the news on social media with the #WearShareGive hashtag.
