Hello and welcome! This is the Geeks Under Grace daily devotional where we dive into the Bible everyday. We take devotionals from bible.com and read the verses, devotional, and give our own commentary. Sometimes we will have multiple writers, but most of the time it will be just me. I hope you enjoy and comment with your own commentary.
This devotional is titled “Stellar Kart – The Overflow Devo”. It is only 7 days long. I use the ESV bible but feel free to use the version of your choosing.
“3For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. 4But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, 5he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,6whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,”
2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
“Just Like You” is a song that describes the stark differences between my character and God’s character. I’m human. Fallible. “A traitor, a faker, a doubter, a failure.” I constantly make mistakes, struggle with unbelief, and try to cover up my sins. God’s love is perfect, He is always faithful, and His mercy is constant. I am so glad His character doesn’t depend on my actions or my faith. He is who He is, and that is so comforting. I’m the one who waivers, He never does. How do I become more like Him? Love like Him? The answer is simple: I can’t. Fortunately for me, God took care of that by sending Jesus. God knows that I am incapable of loving like Him, but He chose to send His Son to save me. Now when He looks at me, He sees His son. Perfect.
This life is a journey in which God is constantly tugging at our hearts and begging us to reciprocate His love. He is molding us to be more like Him. The more we allow Him to work in our lives, the more we will learn what being just like Him truly means.
I LOVE this song. Sure, “All In” is more catchy. But, this was the music that made me act head over heels about Stellar Kart. I remember being quite ectstatic to go to see them in concert and they were even cool enough to sign my cd’s and take a picture. I find it a crime that they are overlooked by most people. I find myself relating to their lyrics all the time. Not as much as Relient K, but pretty close.
