Welcome to something new I want to try on the site. This will be a learning process for me as I go along and I hope you can join me. I will pick a devotional on www.bible.com (feel free to go there and pick the same reading plan) and be posting the verse(s), devotional, and my own personal commentary. Feel free to leave your own commentary in the comments as I would love to read your guys thoughts. Also, I will have music that may or may not apply to the devotional. It is always good to have a song of praise for the Lord!
For the first devotional, we will be doing How To Get Through What You Are Going Through. I use the ESV bible but feel free to use the version of your choosing.
2 Corinthians 1:11 “You also must help us by prayer, so that many will give thanks on our behalf for the blessing granted us through the prayers of many.”
Galatians 6:2 “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”
To get through what you’re going through, you need to recruit other people to pray for you.
This is very easy when you’re in a small group. When you’re going through a tough time and you’re not in a small group, you are unprotected. You don’t have the strength that people in a small group do because you don’t have people praying for you.
The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 1:11, “You are helping us by praying for us. Then many people will give thanks because God has graciously answered so many prayers for our safety” (NLT).
I’ll be honest with you: I don’t know how this works. But there is additional power in group prayer that is not there when you just pray for yourself. There is more power in group prayer than in the single power of you praying for yourself.
The Bible says, “If any two agree as touching anything it shall be done” and “Where two or more are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”
You need that power to get through what you’re going through. That’s why you need to be in a small group. That’s why you need to ask them to pray for you.
The Bible says in Galatians 6:2, “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ” (NIV). What is the law of Christ? “Love your neighbor as yourself.” When you pray for other people, you are loving your neighbor as yourself. When they pray for you, they are loving you as themselves.
Whether you are in a small group or not, you can always contact us here at Geeks Under Grace if you need support. I will provide some links below to get connected with us and other Christ followers. Connecting with other believers who are following the same Christ you are, can help you in a vast amount of ways that you did not know was even possible. Heck, getting connected to a local church is a basic necessity for any Christ follower. As brothers and sisters in Christ, we are to help each other in our time of need and rejoice when things are going well. Through thick and thin as many would say.
