Catalyst – Day 10

Welcome to the daily devotional we have. This is a learning process for me as I go along and I hope you can join me. I will pick a devotional on www.bible.com (feel free to go there and pick the same reading plan) and be posting the verse(s), devotional, and my own personal commentary. Feel free to leave your own commentary in the comments as I would love to read your guys thoughts. Also, I will have a video that relates to the devotional.
This devotional is titled “Catalyst-Known: A 21 Day Journey”. It is 21 days long. I use the ESV bible but feel free to use the version of your choosing.

Verses

Matthew 22:36-40
“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”
Matthew 28:16-20
“Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Devotional

“It is my joyous response to God’s love for me that leads me to desire being a change maker for him. My deepest sense of purpose and joy are found in my devotion to him in response to his devotion to me!” With that in mind, let’s concentrate on two of God’s commands today. The great commandment is above and you’ll read the Great Commission in a moment. Those two commands are important to God and they shape our calling. As you read these passages, let’s get practical. How does God want you to live out these commands in this season of your life?
Main Passage: Matthew 28.16-20
Reflection:
  • What motivates you to live out the great commandment?
  • What did the disciples do just before Jesus told them the Great Commission? (vs. 17) What motivates you to obey the Great Commission?
  • How do you think God wants you to specifically obey those two commands in this season of your life? Ask God for the power and the wisdom to obey him.

Commentary

I want to live my life for God. Why? Well, why not? He loves me so much and I know that the path He has for me is greater than anything I could ever/would accomplish on my own. Why pass up a guaranteed win? No sports team would ever do this so why do we? There is only one way to win and it isn’t by ignoring God and doing your own thing. You will be like Adam in the Sistine Chapel. Close, but no cigar.
