I am sure that someone else is going to mention that good works don’t get us into Heaven or that Christ paid for our sins on the cross for us to enter Heaven, so I won’t rehash them. Instead, I feel led by Holy Spirit to write about what people say are the many ways to Heaven. From Buddha to Mohammed to Oprah (she once said there are many ways to Heaven), people believe there are millions of ways to get into Paradise, but Christ said the way is narrow but the gate is wide for those not entering.
You may think that doing your own thing or being good and kind is enough, but nothing you can do, no religion you’re a part of nor organization/individual you follow can “bargain” their way for you. It’s between you and Christ. Not even King David, who in all his worship and honor to God could get in. We find Abraham with Lazarus (Luke 16:19-31) who just died and was a good man, but instead of being in Heaven, he’s in a special “area” of hell. He’s not being tormented, but waiting for Messiah to take the keys of life and death from satan. Once Christ died on the cross, He went to hell and rescued those that were there and made sure that all saints would end up with Him for eternity.
What chance are you betting on to get through the gates of Heaven? Is it a religion, a famous leader, your goodness and kindness to others? How can we count on someone or something that hasn’t risen from the dead and is living in Heaven at this very moment? Only Christ, who died and rose again, has that authority to say we can enter Heaven. He led the way. Mohammed, Buddha, and every other religious leader is dead. You can find their grave stone and take a picture, because their dead body is laying there still. Try finding Jesus Christ’s physical body, because you will only find Him sitting on the right hand of our Father, waiting for you to know Him personally as a Friend, as Lord, as Messiah.
When asking a question such as this one to the public, and asking random strangers. Lots of people will tell you different answers. Some will say that Heaven doesn’t exist, you have to be good in order to get to Heaven, follow a different religion, and the list goes on. What is my opinion on this matter? I think that there isn’t multiple ways to get to Heaven. I believe there is ONE way to get to Heaven and that is through Jesus Christ alone. In John 14:6, Jesus says that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life and that no one can come to the Father but through Him. That means you can’t get into Heaven just by doing good person, doing good deeds, being a Muslim, Mormon, Buddhist, etc. Jesus even proved that He is the way to get to Heaven by dying on the cross for all of our sins, and he rose again in 3 days. The only person that did is Jesus Christ, and He is the way to get to Heaven.
While this question is prevalent in the world, I am surprised by how many Christians ask this. We have the Bible which contains all the answers yet we still let the world sway us. While I understand there are some things in the Bible which are not clear cut to us, such as when the rapture will be, but how we are saved and consequentially go to heaven is very clear.
John 14:6 – Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
Romans 10:9 “Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
But, I do not want to mislead you. Just because you prayed a prayer once and then went on your merry way, doing whatever pleases you, does not mean you are saved. A relationship with Christ is necessary as well.
Matthew 7:21-27 ““Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’ “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.”
