11 Reasons Why I Love The Church – Caris Ministries

Editors Note – Caris Ministries has graciously allowed us to share some of their articles on our site. Check them out in the links at the bottom for more.
I’ve heard many reasons why people hate the Church, but the worst is when Christians turn against it. They turn against traditions only to create their own. They oppose leaders only to take the lead themselves. They fight organization and structure only to recreate it. They’ve been hurt or offended by someone in the Church, so they hurt and offend in return. When Christians turn against the Church they are fighting their own body, which is what corrupted cells do in a body.
These problems aren’t Church problems, they are human problems. They exist because there are people involved that are not perfect. If you are breathing and you have been involved with any group of people for any length of time, I’m certain you had opportunities to take offense, to disagree with leaders, or to stand in opposition to something.
Regardless of problems, I am certain of one thing: Jesus loves the Church! Anyone that is growing into the maturity of Christ will come love the Church also. Here are eleven reasons why I love the Church:
  1. Jesus loves the Church (Eph. 5:25, 29)
  2. Jesus obtained the Church by His own blood (Act. 20:28)
  3. Jesus is the head of the Church (Eph. 1:22-23; 5:23, 29, Col. 1:18)
  4. It’s what Jesus is building (Mat. 16:18)
  5. God wants me to build up the Church (1 Cor. 14:4, 12)
  6. It’s God’s plan to have a mature Church (Eph. 4:11-16; 5:27)
  7. God doesn’t want me to despise the Church while its maturing (1 Cor. 11:22)
  8. It’s God’s plan that the Church would reveal His manifold wisdom (Eph. 3:10)
  9. God made the Church a pillar and support of truth (1 Tim. 3:15)
  10. God wants me to care for His Church (1 Tim. 3:5; 1 Tim. 3:15)
  11. God appointed me in and called me as a minister to His Church (Act. 20:28; 1 Cor. 12:28)
