A three-day weekend makes New Comic Book Day come quicker! Here are some of the hottest releases hitting the racks of your local comic store. The cream of the crop are in this weeks Fresh Picks!
DC Comics brings us the conclusion to their crossover event with Convergence #8. The battle rages on and when the dust settles, only one reality can remain. Also, there are a ton of Convergence tie-ins from Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, Shazam and more!
IDW is dropping Powerpuff Girls Super Smash Up #5 with features Dexter and Dee Dee (from Dexter’s Laboratory). The Powerpuff Girls need help from the nefarious Mojo Jojo (admit it; you read that in his voice) to keep Dee Dee from accidentally destroying the multiverse. Honestly, this is giving me a nostalgia overload.
Marvel is releasing All-New Hawkeye #3! By all accounts, this is a great book with good writing and nice art. Check out its great description: “What makes a hero and what breaks a hero? Hawkeye and Hawkeye experience both. In ONE GLORIOUSLY BEAUTIFUL ISSUE!” It might be time to hop on the Hawkeye Hype Train!
Marvel is also putting out a slew of new Secret Wars tie-ins. I know it’s confusing, but stay with me here: Inferno is a new spin on a classic X-Men story where the mutants face demons torching Manhattan. Infinity Gauntlet puts Thanos with the infinity gems against the Nova Force. Inhumans: Attilan Rising pits wife against husband when queen Medusa finds out that Black Bolt is leading a rebellion on Battleworld. MODOK Assasin follows MODOK as he becomes a mercenary in Killville. Old Man Logan takes us back to the Wastelands where all heroes are dead except for the man formerly known as Wolverine. Secret Wars 2099 introduces the Avengers 2099, but its like the future, but not…. I don’t know, I’m confused now! Secret Wars Journal tells interesting and mysterious stories from all around Battleworld. And finally, Where Monsters Dwell has fighter planes versus dinosaurs, because… comics.
