The eternal battle of Monsters vs Gods continues! Players control the legendary myths in a struggle for control over Mount Olympus and Hades, represented by the 6×6 or 7×7 playing board. Monsters and Gods leave trails of tokens after they move, and the first to place all the tokens wins. The end of 2025 is fast approaching, and now that we’ve recovered from the post-turkey sleep, we’ll take a moment to recap our favorite tabletop games from 2025! Memoir ‘44 released in 2004, twenty-one years ago. I’m not sure why Memoir ‘44 Refresh‘s release didn’t coincide with the game’s twentieth anniversary, but here we are. Updated components, a revamped (clearer) rulebook, and the same gameplay that draws history buffs, wargamers, and newcomers alike.
When Ahoy left port in 2022, it gave fans of Leder Games another great asymmetric experience–one that was more beginner-friendly than Root given the short playtime and relatively simple mechanics. Ahoy also boasted deep strategy, even though it could be taught fairly easily, and its first expansion, Rivals & Renegades, intends to deepen the strategic potential with pod-based orcas and catapulting turtles.
Fang & Fortune offers two new factions for your 3 or 4-player Ahoy games: Leviathan, who seeks to evolve, devour, and generally do what the Midgard Serpent does during Ragnarok, and Coral Cap Pirates, who just want to party after some mercenary work. Is this a party worth going to, or does someone by the punch have the Black Spot?
