Interview – Studio BLESS - Geeks Under Grace

This week we shine a light on a studio that is using animation to reach the world for Christ. The Studio Bless is spreading their art across their socials and already getting thousands of views.

Their project, Ascension After is their first foray into production, and is soon to be recruiting voice actors, according to their TikTok shorts.

I had the honor of speaking with the founder, Ron McKinney, a man of God passionate about using his talents for ministry.

But it didn’t start that way. Before founding Light of the World (now Ascension After), Ron—raised in Louisiana—began college as a graphic design student. Inspired by the impact of shows like Naruto, his art evolved during this time. However, it wasn’t until his relationship with Christ deepened that his artistic purpose truly emerged. As his faith became the center of his life, his approach to illustration transformed—it was like an awakening. A desire grew within him to serve Christ and dedicate every bit of his talent to Him.

Enter Studio Bless. The blossoming animation house found members for its crucial roles: Zac Scriber (Writer), Beau McGowan (Composer), and Ofari Morton (Art Assistant). Together, they began work on their first project, using Ron’s fascination with eschatology to guide what would become Ascension After.

After their soft launch, the support for their endeavor has been positive. Many are looking to lend their talent, which is good, because they are looking for voice actors.

In his spare time, Ron enjoys watching anime, currently enjoying Solo Leveling, and playing fighting games, like Dragon Ball Z: Sparking Zero. But as of late, Persona 5 is stealing his heart and his time (stealing hearts- get it?)
