Toei Animation has announced Dragon Ball Super as the next television series installment to the Dragon Ball franchise. While the official English title may change in the future, Dragon Ball Super will debut July of 2015 in Japan. Dragon Ball’s original creator Akira Toriyama will oversee this new series said to be based on the aftermath of leading character Goku’s war with Majin Buu. Super will be the first all-new Dragon Ball television series in 18 years following Dragon Ball GT which originally aired from the years 1996 to 1997.
