UPDATE: Star Wars: Uprising is now officially available to download for free on the iOS and Android App Stores. The game plays like a mix between Diablo and Knights of the Old Republic.
Star Wars: Uprising, a new mobile action-RPG from Kabam, will be released on September 10th on iOS and Android devices. In the trailer above we are able to see a bit of the deep customization and Diablo-like gameplay elements that Uprising will offer when it launches.
Uprising takes place between the sixth episode of the main movie trilogy, Return of the Jedi, and the forthcoming seventh episode, The Force Awakens. Uprising’s story will be part of the official Star Wars canon. The game is set in the Anoat Sector, which includes major film locations like Hoth and Cloud City.
Since the Rebels were driven from this region when they lost Echo Base in The Empire Strikes Back, their presence in Uprising is minimal. Instead, players will interact more with bounty hunters, smugglers, crime lords, and common folk as they create their own unique character to overthrow the Empire.
Disney has been keen to bring Star Wars back to the forefront of modern gaming with recent announcements of Star Wars: The Force Awakens characters for Disney Infinity 3.0 and newly released footage of the upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront reboot.
