With the explosion video game live streaming site Twitch over the last few years, it should come as no surprise that some of the bigger dogs in the industry want in on the action. Now, just weeks after rumors of YouTube debating the acquisition, Twitch CEO Emmett Shear has confirmed that global online retail giant Amazon has pulled the trigger.The streaming service, which is baked into both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, will cost Amazon just a hair under $1 billion ($970 million).
What does that mean for each of us? Will this broaden the horizons of what the service has to offer? Some have already begun to speculate that this could be either very good or very bad depending on where Amazon takes it. Could Prime membership carry over?
