I am sure some of you will be pleased to know that this is not based on another Relient K song. Instead it is based on a Skillet song. Baby steps!
Sin is powerful. More powerful than we realize. Now it is not stronger than God and certainly we can overcome it, but how is it that we indulge it? It is a monster that wants to be let loose. Sin wants to take over us and eat us away like a parasite.
The Bible speaks extensively on sin, so much so that you would need to pretty much never read the Bible or go to church to be unaware of it. What some of us do not realize is how it affects us. Isaiah 59:1-2 tells us how our sin separates us from God. By sinning He will hide His face from us and we cannot hear him. Ever wondered why you can’t hear God and others can?
Sin fully grown brings death (James 1:15). If we tell others that we have never sinned then we are lying to them and ourselves (1 John 1:8). Have you ever done something and immediately regretted it? Have you lashed out at someone and realized you were in the wrong? Have you ever seen other Christians blatantly sin? Doesn’t that taint your entire view of them?
It is one thing to sin. It is another to blatantly do it and know better. It is impossible to tell others about Christ when we sin in front of them on purpose. Cursing is one sure fire way to have no one take you seriously as a Christian. You are better off telling them you are an Atheist. That would do less damage to the Kingdom of God, but once again you are sinning by lying. It is quite a vicious cycle.
How can we tell others about God’s grace and Jesus dying for us when we let sin control us and act like all the other monsters in the world? Short answer, we cannot.
