Hello and welcome! This is the Geeks Under Grace daily devotional where we dive into the Bible everyday. We take devotionals from bible.com and read the verses, devotional, and give our own commentary. Sometimes we will have multiple writers, but most of the time it will be just me. I hope you enjoy and comment with your own commentary.
This devotional is titled “Red – The Overflow Devo”. It is only 7 days long. I use the ESV bible but feel free to use the version of your choosing.
20 “Look, O Lord, for I am in distress;
my stomach churns;
my heart is wrung within me,
because I have been very rebellious.
In the street the sword bereaves;
in the house it is like death.
21 “They heard my groaning,
yet there is no one to comfort me.
All my enemies have heard of my trouble;
they are glad that you have done it.
You have brought the day you announced;
now let them be as I am.
22 “Let all their evildoing come before you,
and deal with them
as you have dealt with me
because of all my transgressions;
for my groans are many,
and my heart is faint.”
There is a constant battle between who we are inside and what we show people on the outside. Sometimes we feel like a broken mess. The “Glass House” is a reminder that God can see into the deepest parts of our souls. He can see our pain and distress that we have caused on ourselves from trying to put on a face and hide our sin. Only when we surrender to the will of God and what is right in our lives can He make us whole again and put back the pieces. So let’s stop hiding and let our true face shine in the light and love of what God’s will is for us.
That constant battle, that Red is talking about above, is a war. A war between our flesh and what we know is right. It is so easy to give into what out flesh wants. We have to choose the right thing to do for ourselves. If we just go with the flow and do whatever our body wants then we will end up just like the world.
One day we all, Christian or not, will all be judged for what we did here on Earth. Did you give into your flesh or did you do the right thing? God knows your heart better than anyone, including you.
What are your thoughts? Let me know in the comments.
