We are now in an age where many kids and even teens don’t remember a time before cell phones and internet. GASP! Nowadays there are so many ways to communicate with others without seeing each other face to face or even without needing to move our mouths. All it takes is some typing on a keyboard or phone. For many of us, this is now the standard for how to communicate with others. Some of us are like Ron Swanson and dread the idea of ever even owning a phone. One major problem that I have noticed, stems from this new technology. That is the idea of communicating important things over text or online messages. Some say it is easier and some just simply point out that they can communicate better that way. With all of that being said… This is five things you should never text/message anyone.
5. Asking Someone Out On A Date
This one seems a tad obvious but many of us fear rejection so much that we can’t handle the thought of asking out that cute guy/girl face to face. Instead we hide behind our screens. After all, if they say no then we can send a tongue faced emoticon and say something like “LOL jk! I waz so not serious. #pleasemarryme”.
4. Ending A Relationship
This seems EVEN MORE obvious however, this is even worse than asking someone out via text. In this instance, instead of fearing rejection, now we hide behind our screens in case the other person cries/freaks out/etc etc.
Person 1 – “It is over between us.”
Person 2 -“OMG WHY?!?!?! WHAT DID I DO WRONG? I CAN CHANGE!”
Person 1 – (Turns off cell phone)
This lets us off the hook for actually dealing with their emotional problems. After all, if worse comes to worse and they won’t stop blowing up our phone then we can always block them!
3. Long Texts/Novels Explaining Something
First off, too long didn’t read. If you send a bunch of texts explaining something then you deserve a one word response. This notoriously happens in relationships/marriages when the significant other feels like expressing everything they have ever thought via a really long text. You know what I am talking about. You sent a good night text, went to sleep, woke up to fifteen messages about something that could of easily waited till you saw each other. Do us all a favor and just call or say it face to face.
2. Forwarding Spammy Messages
Stop. Just stop. Unless you want to ruin friendships then don’t tell me ten things I need to do or my mom dies at midnight.
Oh boy. Unfortunately, way too many of us have been in this situation. These people will send you messages that seem innocent. Like what you are wearing? Or can you send me a pic? As it turns out, they never mean a face picture either. They mean strip down naked and send me a picture. They also like to text what they would do to you in private. Honestly, if you wouldn’t send it to your parents then why would you send it to a brother/sister in Christ?
What do you think? Let me know in the comments! Also, yes… These are real texts… That I sent myself for this article.

The grieving process is often an ugly thing. It can reduce us to body-wracking sobs or tempt us to sit in dark, solitary silence. It can shake us to our very core and lead us on a meandering path, banging on doors that open to nothing, and asking [...]
